Influencia del género y tipo de centro en la volición de personas mayores institucionalizadas

Objective: To describe the occupational status of the elderly institutionalized and assess the influence of gender and type of center in the vocational and volition of this population. Methodology: Observational study-cross. It has valued the occupation and volition by the questionnaire occupants, the list of interests and roles. It has been used a descriptive statistical analysis and univariate. The participants were 43 elderly institutionalized houses or units of daytime of Granada and Almeria, with an average of 81.72 years. Results: The type of center was statistically related to the competition (r= 0.33; p=0.029), the value attributed to the activity (r=0.59; p< 0.001) and the satisfaction with this (r=0.39; p=0.010) in certain areas of occupation. Gender was not associated with the previous subscales of the questionnaire occupational. The royal family and religious are more frequent in those who participate in this population. The elderly residence ceases to perform a greater number of activities with regard to unit stay day. Conclusions: To know how it influences the institution in the occupation accomplishment and the volition may be relevant to Occupational Therapy. Although it has shown a decline in the status occupational, these people appreciate the participation occupational.Objetivo describir el estatus ocupacional de las personas mayores institucionalizadas y evaluar la influencia del género y tipo de centro en el desempeño ocupacional y volición de esta población.
