This article presents some thoughts about labour market inclusion of people socially and culturally categorized as disabled. The content is based on the following question: Why has the involvement of people with disabilities in the labour market been conceived as problematic? In the first place, the article suggests two possible answers expressed as theses. Then, national employment promotion programmes aimed at this segment of the population are examined, focusing the analysis on the theses previously stated.
