Recent changes in the Andean geopolitics, ar§e related to the emergence of new progressive governments in Ecuador, Bolivia and Venezuela, as a result of social resistance movements against the FTAA (Free Trade Area of the Americas) and the Regional Free Trade Agreements that United States wanted to impose in the region. These changes can help Andean countries in developing a new integration agenda not subordinated to the interests of the US.
