Pétrologie et géochimie des formations quartzofeldspathiques de la série métamorphique mésozonale du Chassezac (Lozère, Massif Central français)

Petrographic studies, supported by a detailed cartography, make it possible to propose a schema of the lithostratigraphic and metamorphic history of the studied sector. The crystallophyllian series includes, from base to summit:- a caxoniferous quartzofeldspathic ensemble with sillimanite (± cordierite) surmounted by a discontinuous horizon of biotite - sillimanite gneiss;a mesozonal staurotide-garnet, andalusite-cordierite sequence, consisting of three units:.gneiss eyed at the base,a median horizon of rubano-eyed leptynites associated with levels of muscovite leptynites (old leucogranites),a micaschistous upper set;- a powerful series of epimetamorphic schists (schists from the Cevennes to albite, chlorite, muscovite).The metamorphic evolution of these formations is complex:. At a first episode of low-pressure intermediate staurotide-garnet type, synchronous with the first phase of deformations (isoclinal folds P1 to foliation S1 axial plane), follows a second episode of low-pressure type at andalusite-cordierite, contemporary of the second phase deformations, resulting in local remobilization (late phase 2) of the quartzofeldspathic catazonal formations. A third phase is accompanied by a dynamic retromorphosis around the Villefort accident.. The series is also influenced by the granite massifs, which is marked in the micaschists by a halo with chiastolitic andalusite; this phenomenon post phase 1 and ante phase 2 in contact with the Margeride is later (syn phase 2) in contact with the Borne.A more specific study, mineralogical and chemical, concerns the quartzofeldspathic formations eyed. It highlights:- the identity of the eyed gneiss of Cchassezac and the arc of Fix,- their probably granitic origin with a granodioritic tendency whose establishment would not be linked to a distensive phase like in Montagne Noire.Les études pétrographiques, appuyées sur une cartographie détaillée permettent de proposer un schéma de l’histoire lithostratigraphique et métamorphique du secteur étudié. La série cristallophyllienne comprend, de la base au sommet:- un ensemble quartzofeldspathique catazonal à sillimanite (± cordiérite) surmonté d’un horizon discontinu de gneiss à biotite - sillimanite ;- une séquence mésozonale à staurotide-grenat, andalousite-cordiérite, formée de trois unités :.des gneiss oeillés à la base,.un horizon médian de leptynites rubano-oeillées associées à des niveaux de leptynites à muscovite (anciens leucogranites),.un ensemble supérieur micaschisteux ;- une puissante série de schistes épimétamorphiques (schistes des Cévennes à albite, chlorite, muscovite).L’évolution métamorphique de ces formations est complexe :. A un premier épisode de type intermédiaire basse pression à staurotide-grenat, synchrone de la première phase de déformations (plis isoclinaux P1 à foliation S1 plan axial), succède un deuxième épisode de type basse pression à andalousite-cordiérite, contemporain de la seconde phase de déformations, et qui aboutit à la remobilisation locale (tardi phase 2) des formations quartzofeldspathiques catazonales. Une troisième phase s’accompagne, aux abords de l’accident de Villefort, d’une rétromorphose dynamique.. La série subit également l’influence des massifs granitiques, qui se marque dans les micaschistes par une auréole à andalousite chiastolitique ; ce phénomène post phase 1 et anté phase 2 au contact de la Margeride est plus tardif (syn phase 2) au contact de la Borne.Une étude plus particulière, minéralogique et chimique, concerne les formations quartzofeldspathiques oeillées. Elle met en évidence :- l’identité des gneiss oeillés du Cchassezac et de l’arc de Fix,- leur origine probablement granitique à tendance granodioritique dont la mise en place ne serait pas liée à une phase distensive comme en Montagne Noire
