Honors Paper: Painting

Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought. --Albert Szent-Gyorgyi This quote best describes the whole of my Honors Project. From the sketchiest of ideas, throughout the process of creating, to the very meanings of the finished artworks and the writing of this paper, \u27discovery\u27 has been my constant companion. I decided to work on an Honor\u27s Project because I wanted to challenge myself and discover if I could finish my undergraduate studies with something that would make a statement about the past four years of my life here at Redlands. Knowing that I would ultimately have to write this paper, I started to pay very close attention to every little nuance of my thought-processes and the accompanying choices inherent in making Art. My hope is that this paper will be able to convey to you, the reader, an adequate record of these thought-processes in addition to giving you a sense of what I and the art I produce are all about
