Problem: The study examined the role of social networks in influencing access and utilization of healthcare services, and health outcomes in HIV positive immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa. Study hypotheses were: 1) Social networks of SSA immigrants are comprised of higher numbers of strong ties than weak ties; 2) Social networks comprised of weak ties facilitate greater access and utilization of healthcare services, and 3) Higher levels of social integration facilitate positive HIV/AIDS related health outcomes.
