New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Remote Sensing Technique Assessment Project Report - September 1989

This document serves several purpose, including: 1) to describe procedures used by ESRI for producing the Ocean County Land Cover layer using ERDAS and ARC/INFO geographic information processing software; 2) to provide a discussion of issues associated with implementing procedures, and results of the efforts; 3) to serve as a curriculum for the ESRI on-site training support class; 4) to document resource requirements for performing the work; and 5) to provide recommendations to New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection on the use of satellite remote sensing data in their ongoing land cover mapping efforts.Purpose: The purpose of this report is to discuss the results of a project to create a digital land cover layer of Ocean County, New Jersey using a hybrid approach of digital image processing and manual aerial photography interpretation techniques
