Beaches, Boating and Offshore Oil: A Project Report by Monmouth County on the Subregional Outer Continental Shelf and Energy Facilities Planning Program

With aid of Federal funding and with guidance from New Jersey's Office of Coastal Zone Management, Monmouth County conducted this study to determine the character, likelihood, and potential impacts of offshore oil and gas development in the Outer Continental Shelf, and to acquire and establish a data source for continued planning. The report describes the objectives, assumptions, procedures, findings, and recommendations of the study. Other contents include: a present profile of Monmouth County; descriptions of suitable and unsuitable areas for energy facilities sitings; analyses of factors and changes, including zoning, environmental, and public attitude and opinion; and views of municipalities and the county.Prepared under the terms of contract to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Coastal Zone Management, with financial assistance under the provisions of Section 305 of P.L. 92-583, Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972.Purpose: To determine the character, likelihood, and potential impacts of offshore oil and gas development, and to acquire and establish a data source for continued planning
