This is a studio portrait of Marie Roesch Stuckel, a member of WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), during WWII. Marie entered boot camp in September 1943 at Hunter College in the Bronx, NY. After 6-weeks of training, she was transferred to USNATTC, Norman OK, where she worked in the Administration Bldg. She was then transferred to Radio School at USNPSC, Norman, OK. When the school closed, she spent the rest of her service time in Norman and New Orleans, LA. She was discharged in 1946 as a Yeoman 1st Class. "I am very proud to have served my country and the experience was great."
