Women Veterans WW2 - Marie Roesch Stuckel

This is a studio portrait of Marie Roesch Stuckel, a member of WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), during WWII. Marie entered boot camp in September 1943 at Hunter College in the Bronx, NY. After 6-weeks of training, she was transferred to USNATTC, Norman OK, where she worked in the Administration Bldg. She was then transferred to Radio School at USNPSC, Norman, OK. When the school closed, she spent the rest of her service time in Norman and New Orleans, LA. She was discharged in 1946 as a Yeoman 1st Class. "I am very proud to have served my country and the experience was great." This photo was part of a wall display presentation in honor of the women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States. The museum presentation was prepared for Memorial Day 2001, and remained until the end of the year. The photos were mounted on red construction paper and the narrative placed on white paper stars.
