This is a studio portrait of Nancy Folmer Stone, a member of WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during WWII. Nancy attended boot camp at Hunter College. She was a hospital corpsman with the rank of Pharmacist's Mate Second Class at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA. This photo was part of a wall display presentation in honor of the women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States. The museum presentation was prepared for Memorial Day 2001, and remained until the end of the year. The photos were mounted on red construction paper and the narrative placed on white paper stars.
