Simultaneity of space

The generational gaps between the baby-boomers and millennials are a result of a number of sociobiological and economic factors. Events such as the 2008 Financial Housing Market Crash, the current political climate and the events proceeding and following the election, constantly changing cultural trends, global warming, countless international tragedies, and most importantly the ever advancing technological innovations which most connects and divides the people of our time. The position of my thesis is one which poses the question of how to bridge the gap between the numerous divides of our time through the means and practice of architecture. Distance is no longer an issue in communication, our power to connect is greater than ever. We can connect to someone down the street or to other side of the world skype, connect with international students or with our neighbors to better serve everyone. Communication is the key through which our future will be shaped and architecture has yet to catch on and evolve with the rest of the revolution. Also we must not forget to connect beyond the built and digital space, but have our surroundings be as crucial to this move forward as any other member of the team. Architecture is out dated, our means to connect a far ahead of a building design, no longer are the needs of home and roads, are at the center of our design intention. Internet connection is the new leader of our civilization and it’s up to us as designers to build not against but with technology. Architecture has to be built beyond walls, beyond the landscape, and must move towards tech involved world. A router and a plug must become as essential to our spaces as a supporting wall. If architecture doesn’t keep up with the pace of innovation we will see the side effects in our society and will limit our inhabitants from entering the new millennia. My goal is to begin with urban scaled interventions and connect the people to inhabit those spaces with the use of tech, landscape, and architecture This move towards the future will be here sooner than you think, thus the responsibility of the architect is force connection and prevent the disconnection critically stigmatized with the zeitgeist of new tech. The more gain our capabilities to connect, it seems the further we get from true the awareness of our immediate surroundings. Architecture should be the actor whose sole purpose is to be the program which connects everyone, to everything, to every building, to every street, to the city, and to the world. If the architecture can began with urban interventions then the future of a connection network, will moves us to the new era of the machine, the building, the city. Architecture should not be a divider; it is the responsibility of the designer to connect people to the environment while including the rewards of technology
