This paper constitutes a contribution to the penetration of nonbijective canonical transformations in the field of theoretical chemistry. We have described in a simple way three quadratic transformations: the Levi-Civi ta, the Kustaanheimo-Stiefel, and· a new transformation. Applications of the Kustaanheimo-Stiefel transformation are reviewed and further developed for the hydrogen atom, the Stark and Zeeman effects in hydrogenlike ions, as well as various potentials entering chemical physics and quantum chemistry
