Desenvolvimento de um tribômetro, tipo cilindro sob disco, para ensaios tribológicos em formulações com óleos vegetais

Global warming and the environment are the most troubling issues now-a-days. Thus, many studies are being developed in order to find ways to preserve them so that future generations can enjoy the same quality of life we have today. One of the most sources of pollution are the used lubricating oils, for not being biodegradable and have a high toxicity, if discarded in the environment incorrectly, can cause serious environmental damage. With these thoughts the choice for environmentally friendly products is a concern that is part of day-to-day companies seeking sustainable development, minimizing wherever possible the environmental aggressions. In order to minimize these effects, scientists are engaged in developing new lubricants based on vegetable oils (biolubricants) having the same tribological characteristics of a mineral oil or synthetic base. For future besides reducing dependence on petroleum for the manufacture of lubricants, we are preserving the environment. With focus on this scenario, the work in question has as main objective the construction of a machine to simulate wear, for testing and tribological analyzes in vegetables oils with different types of additives in your composition in order to compare them as to their performance in the simulator. Analyzing all the oils, canola oil with 5% additive of vegetable origin presented the best performance regard to reducing of wear rate reaching 82.14% reduction. However, with the use of different additives, mineral oil obtained lower rates of wear overcoming all oils tested. The final results showed the great potential of using vegetable oil as bio-lubricants, since it found its ideal concentration of additivesO aquecimento global e o meio ambiente são os temas mais preocupantes da atualidade. Com isso, inúmeras pesquisas estão em desenvolvimento a fim de encontrar meios para preservação dos mesmos de modo que as gerações futuras possam desfrutar da mesma qualidade de vida que temos hoje. Uma das grandes fontes de poluição são os óleos lubrificantes usados, por não serem biodegradáveis e possuírem uma alta toxidade, se descartados no meio ambiente de forma incorreta, podem acarretar sérios danos ambientais. A fim de minimizar esses impactos, cientistas se empenham no desenvolvimento de novos lubrificantes a base de óleos vegetais (biolubrificantes), que possuam as mesmas características tribológicas de um óleo de base mineral ou sintético. Com foco neste cenário, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo principal a construção de uma máquina simuladora de desgaste, onde se realizou ensaios em óleos vegetais com diferentes tipos de aditivos em sua composição, a fim de compará-los quanto ao seu desempenho no simulador. Analisando os óleos testados, o óleo de canola com 5% do aditivo de origem vegetal foi o que obteve o melhor desempenho com relação à redução da taxa de desgaste, chegando até 82,14% de redução. Porém, com o uso dos diferentes aditivos, o óleo de origem mineral obteve as menores taxas de desgaste superando todos os óleos testados. Os resultados finais obtidos demonstraram o grande potencial da utilização do óleo vegetal como biolubrificantes, desde que encontrada a sua concentração ideal de aditivo
