Introduction and objectives: Pituitary adenomas, the neoplasms derived from the master organ in endocrine system, are one of the most common brain tumors with high morbidity and poor outcome without treatment. The pathogenic mechanisms of pituitary adenomas are versatile and complex, including autocrine and paracrine signaling. MIF, as a key cytokine in inflammatory and cancerigenesis, is synthesized in anterior pituitary tissue and may generate effect to pituitary adenomas.
