Um SOFC-Generatoren neben herkömmlichen Stromerzeugern zu etablieren, müssen vor allem die Herstellungskosten der Anlagen verringert werden. Bei tubularen SOFC-Zellen lassen sich die Produktionskosten deutlich senken, wenn ein verändertes Design mit beidseitig offenen Rohren eingesetzt werden kann.
