MOTIF PENCARIAN INFORMASI, BERSOSIALISASI, HIBURAN, PENCARIAN STATUS DAN PENGALAMAN BERMEDIA SEBELUMNYA TERHADAP MINAT MELAKUKAN NEWS SHARING DI MEDIA SOSIAL FACEBOOK OLEH KALANGAN MAHASISWA UNS TAHUN 2014/2015

In its development, media experiences the shift of function. A media user, human being experiences some probabilities. One of them is the function of social media facebook as news sharing. Previous studies found that information seeking motif, socializing, entertainment and status seeking affect the respondents to do news sharing. This research aimed to find out the factors mostly affecting the population in maximizing the use of faceboook as news sharing media. The author developed a conceptual model corresponding to the population and employed uses and gratification theory as a guideline. This theory helped the author elaborate the motivation of respondents in which many reasons made the media users choose media to support their activity. This research employed quantitative method with SEM or Structural Equation Model analysis connecting the factors studied simultaneously. The author selected the respondents using random sampling technique. The result of research showed that the significance of individual variables’ effect was varying. The variable with highest score (mostly affecting) was entertainment with the score of 0.52, followed with status seeking of 0.24, information seeking of 0.18 and finally socializing of -0.03. This research showed that there was an effect of the four variables on the interest in doing news sharing. Keywords: facebook, news sharing, SE
