Strategi Penyeimbangan Peran Ganda Perempuan (Proses Pengambilan Keputusan Pada Perempuan Bekerja di Dusun Kaplingan, Kelurahan Jebres, Kecamatan Jebres, Surakarta)

MULTIPLE BALANCING ROLE STRATEGY OF THE WOMEN (A CASE STUDY ON DECISION MAKING PROCESS OF WOMEN WORKING IN KAPLINGAN VILLAGE, JEBRES SUBDISTRICT, JEBRES DISTRICT, SURAKARTA). Thesis, Surakarta: Teacher Training and Education Faculty. Universitas Sebelas Maret. November 2016. This study aims to find out the decision-making process of the working women and the strategy of multiple balancing roles. This research was conducted in the Kaplingan village, Jebres District, Surakarta in which the research subjects were the women who are working and being in the multiple roles as housewives. This research used a qualitative study using a case study approach. The source of the data were in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The key informants in in depth-interviews were the women who are working and being the housewive at the same time and their husbands. The observation which is related to the interaction and the social process as well as the close relationship between the working women and their family members, in this case are their children and husbands. The documentations were in the form of written documentations were in the form of written and the photographs of the informants during the interview. The data collection in this research used purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed using an interactive model that consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion and verification. Based on the results of this study, there are various reasons underlying the decision-making process of working women, such as self-actualization, a mean for worshipping, family income, self-desire, boredom at home, and work opportunity. Each reason not always has the manifest functions (expected functions) but also contained laten function (unexpected function). Therefore, the strategies were implemented by the working women in Kaplingan village by entrusting their child to the closest persons, spending time with the family during the holiday, monitoring their children’s growth and education, giving the understanding about the work being done and allocating their time fairly. The concept of the strategy is related to the adaptation strategy that becomes the alternative function mechanism of Robert K Merton in Structural Functionalism to keep the balance role of attaining the regularity system. Those strategies were carried out as a functional alternative mechanism which is used to keep the balance so that the role of the regularity system can still be achieved.
