Literary Alchemies: Sefarad’s Possible Worlds

[EN]The physical dimension of literature has dominated the field of literary reflection until recently, when the emergence of new verbal art forms/n–such as postcolonial literatures and digital literature– has produced a relativization and redefinition of old categories and postulates that limited the corpus of study to a few works and, so doing, restricted the understanding of the literary phenomenon. In the field of comparative literature, this change is reflected in the rise of the paradigm of world literature and translation studies. However, the study of oral literature or orature still has a great methodological and analytical vacuum within literary comparatism. In this sense, this article seeks to problematize the concept of world literature –as literary circulation– and literary translation from the point of view of oral literature, taking as illustrative example the Sephardic community.[ES]La dimensión física de lo literario ha dominado el ámbito de la reflexión literaria hasta épocas recientes, cuando, con la emergencia de nuevas formas de arte verbal tales como las literaturas postcoloniales o la ciberliteratura, se produce una relativización y redefinición de viejas categorías y postulados que limitaban el corpus de estudio a unas pocas obras y restringían con ello la comprensión del fenómeno literario. En el ámbito de la literatura comparada, este cambio se reflejará en el auge del paradigma de la literatura mundial y de los estudios de traducción. Sin embargo, el estudio de la literatura oral u oratura sigue encontrando un gran vacío metodológico y analítico dentro del comparatismo literario. En este sentido, este texto busca problematizar el concepto de literatura mundial –como circulación literaria– y el de traducción desde el punto de vista de la literatura oral, tomando como ejemplo ilustrativo la comunidad sefardí
