The irony and the utopia as education methods in the written work of Erasmus and More

The following project treats the terms «utopia» and «irony». It sets them as educational methods in the works of Erasmus and More during the Renaissance. An a posteriori method is followed and since the above concepts are being analysed, at first it is proved that «utopia» is «irony» and secondly that both «utopia» and «irony» are educational methods. One comes to this conclusion after having studied every ideological parameter of the aims of the philosophic ideas being examined, that of the Utopia by Thomas More and the Moronism’s Encomium by Erasmus. Both the above works mention the contemporary wrongdoings and the philosophers using a tinge of irony try to persuade – teach the citizens not to connive at the leaders’ uneven actions, but to pursue the way of virtuousness, fairness, peace, equality.The philosophers of the Renaissance through the irony and the utopian consideration of the politico-social fermentations, attempt to anticipate the ill-favoured socio-political phenomena. Through mocking and using irony one derives significant conclusions, concerning christianity, culture, education, the nobles, the orators, the philosophers, the theologians as well as other professions.In order to make the meaning of Utopia understandable, the ideal states are being examined from the classic mentality to the Renaissance, where we examine its notion. Utopia is indeed the fundamental subject of political philosophy. The political ideals, the virtues, the political philosophy, the civil humanism are meanings being analysed. During the Renaissance, Thomas More wrote Utopia, a work where all the wrongdoings of the English political system of his era are being mentioned in a particular way (which proves to be ironic). Education, sciences, religion, justice, defence, governing, leadership.Thomas’ More Utopia is compared to Plato’s State as well as Christianism and Socialism. Subsequently, we examine the sense of irony as a tutoring method during the ancient, christian, byzantine and renaissance times. All the humanitarian messages, concerning education, legislation, justice, religion, military policy and leadership, are taught through irony. So, we record the messages of humanism as well as its contribution to the culture and the education of that era. In Erasmus’ work «Praise of Folly» the function of irony and its contribution to the education of the people is particularly obvious.Eventually, having studied and approached ideologically excerpts of the two works mentioned above, we come to the conclusion that sarcastic irony via utopia serves to the teaching of the behaviour of our contemporaries. Both the ideal state and utopia preside at the educational procedure; and through ironic writing every citizen comprehends the points of the political governing that needs and has to be transformed. Well, the message of the above meanings is diachronic..Η παρούσα εργασία πραγματεύεται τους όρους «ουτοπία» και «ειρωνεία».Τις τοποθετεί ως παιδευτικές μεθόδους στα έργα του Erasmus και του More κατά την περίοδο της Αναγέννησης. Η μέθοδος που ακολουθείται είναι επαγωγική και αφού αναλύονται οι έννοιες αυτές, αποδεικνύεται κατ. αρχάς ότι η «ουτοπία» είναι ειρωνεία και κατά δεύτερον ότι ουτοπία και ειρωνεία είναι παιδευτικές μέθοδοι. Αυτό το συμπέρασμα εξάγεται αφού μελετώνται όλες οι ιδεολογικές παράμετροι των στόχων των εξεταζόμενων φιλοσοφημάτων, της Ουτοπίας του Thomas More και του Μωρίας Εγκώμιου του Erasmus. Και στα δυο έργα θίγονται τα κακώς κείμενα της εποχής και οι φιλόσοφοι προσπαθούν με τον ειρωνικό τόνο που τους διακατέχει να πείσουν – διδάξουν τους πολίτες να μην εθελοτυφλούν μπροστά στην άνιση συμπεριφορά των ηγετών αλλά να ακολουθούν το δρόμο της αρετής, της δικαιοσύνης, της ειρήνης, της ισότητας.Οι φιλόσοφοι της Αναγέννησης μέσω της ειρωνείας και της Ουτοπικής θεώρησης των πολιτικών-κοινωνικών διεργασιών, προσπαθούν να προλάβουν τα άσχημα κοινωνικοπολιτικά φαινόμενα. Μέσω του χλευασμού και της ειρωνείας εξάγονται σημαντικότατα συμπεράσματα για τον Χριστιανισμό, την Παιδεία, την εκπαίδευση, για τους ευγενείς, τους ρήτορες, τους φιλοσόφους, τους θεολόγους, και άλλα επαγγέλματα. Για να γίνει κατανοητή η έννοια της Ουτοπίας εξετάζονται οι ιδανικές πολιτείες από την αρχαιοελληνική διανόηση έως και την εποχή της Αναγέννησης, στην οποία εξετάζουμε την έννοιά της. Η Ουτοπία είναι βέβαια το βασικό θέμα της πολιτικής φιλοσοφίας Τα πολιτικά ιδανικά, οι αρετές, η πολιτική φιλοσοφία, ο πολιτικός ουμανισμός είναι έννοιες οι οποίες αναλύονται. Κατά την περίοδο της Αναγέννησης ο Thomas More έγραψε την Ουτοπία έργο στο οποίο αναφέρονται με ιδιαίτερο τρόπο ( θα αποδειχθεί ειρωνικός) όλα τα κακώς κείμενα του πολιτικού συστήματος της Αγγλίας της εποχής του. Εκπαίδευση, επιστήμες, θρησκεία, δικαιοσύνη, άμυνα, διακυβέρνηση, ηγεσία. Συγκρίνεται η Ουτοπία του Thomas More με την Πολιτεία του Πλάτωνα, τον Χριστιανισμό και τον Σοσιαλισμό. Στη συνέχεια εξετάζεται η έννοια της ειρωνείας ως εκπαιδευτικής μεθόδου στα αρχαία, χριστιανικά, βυζαντινά και αναγεννησιακά χρόνια. Μέσω της ειρωνείας διδάσκονται όλα τα ουμανιστικά μηνύματα, που αφορούν παιδεία, νομοθεσία, δικαιοσύνη, θρησκεία, στρατιωτική πολιτική, ηγεσία. Με αυτόν τον τρόπο καταγράφονται τα μηνύματα του ουμανισμού και η συμβολή του στην παιδεία και εκπαίδευση της εποχής. Στο εξεταζόμενο έργο Μωρίας εγκώμιο. του Erasmus είναι εμφανής η λειτουργία της ειρωνείας και η συμβολή της στην παιδεία των πολιτών.Τελικά και αφού μελετώνται χωρία των δύο έργων και προσεγγίζονται ιδεολογικά, εξάγεται το συμπέρασμα ότι η σαρκαστική ειρωνεία μέσω της ουτοπίας μας βοηθά στην διδασκαλία των συμπεριφορών των ανθρώπων της εποχής; Η ιδανική πολιτεία, η ουτοπία, έχει θέση στην εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία; Και μέσω της ειρωνικής γραφής ο πολίτης κατανοεί τα σημεία της πολιτικής διακυβέρνησης που πρέπει και οφείλει να αλλάξει.
