The importance of the timely localization of placentas by ultrasound scanning for the reduction of perinatal complications

One thousand two hundred and ten pregnant women, aged 15 to 39, were examined by utrasound scanning. All women were between the 28th and 41th week of gestation. We tried to locate the exact implantation area of their placenta and in 93.7% it was accurate while in 6.1% the method failed. Our main results refer to the improvement of maternal and fetal care and its contribution to the reduction of perinatal morbidity and mortality. Taking under consideration the results of investigations throughout the world we could recommend an ultrasound scanning of all pregnant women in each trimester of their pregnancy. This examination is simple, quick, accurate, painless, and fully acceptable by pregnant women.Με υπερηχογραφική εξέταση 1210 εγκύων γυναικών από 15-39 ετών, που βρίσκονται στην 28η έως 41η εβδομάδα κυήσεως προσπαθήσαμε να εντοπίσουμε την ακριβή θέση του πλακούντα. Αυτό επετεύχθη σε ποσοστό 93.9%, μόνο στο 6.1% η εντόπιση του πλακούντα ήταν αδύνατη. Με βάση όλα τα αποτελέσματα μας αλλά και αυτά της διεθνούς βιβλιογραφίας που ανασκοπήσαμε προτείνουμε υπερηχογραφική εξέταση της εγκύου γυναικός, κάθε τρίμηνο της εγκυμοσύνης με σκοπό την διάγνωση τόσο των ενδεχόμενων παθολογικών θέσεων του πλακούντα αλλά και των άλλων ενδεχόμενων παθολογικών καταστάσεων.
