This paper offers a new edition of the alliance decree between Athens and Thebes that was signed in the first quarter of the fourth century BC. It is accompanied by an epigraphical and historiographical commentary. The text lacks several parts, nevertheless thanks to a careful palaeographic examination it is possible to propose new supplements (ll. 3, 11, 14, 16-18). Presumably the text refers to Thebes’ entrance into the Synedros of Athenian allies; this happened at some point in 378 BC
