Neutralizing IL-17 does not improve sepsis survival in CD43^-/- hosts.

A, WT and CD43-/- animals were subjected to CLP and spleens were harvested at 24h. The frequency of TH17 cells, defined as IL-17A+ CD4+ cells, decreased in CD43-/- mice after sepsis induction (5.2±0.5 vs 3±0.3, p = 0.004). Statistical comparisons were performed by Mann-Whitney non-parametric test. B, CD43-/- animals were treated with anti-IL-17 as described in materials and methods and followed for survival. Survival curves were analyzed by log-rank test. There was no difference in survival between the groups.
