International audienceThis article deals with a phenomenon of reception, reaction and echo vis-à-vis foreign critics in Spain during the Enlightenment : it studies the anathema pronounced upon the then still dominant scholasticism by some Spanish intellectuals in the 18th century, even amidst the Catholic Church. It shows that Spanish catholicism developed – under foreign and especially French influence – a strong sense of self-criticism and tried to emancipate itself from a methodolgy that was perceived as an archaic one.Cet article aborde un sujet qui, concernant l’Espagne des Lumières, s’inscrit dans un phénomène de réception, de réaction et d’écho aux critiques étrangères qui a été plusieurs fois souligné.
