Among the various solution processed semiconductors, organometal halide perovskites represent a noteworthy class of materials thanks to their unique combination of optoelectronic properties: efficient charge transport, favorable emission properties, strong light absorption and optical gap tunability stand for the key features of these novel semiconductors and make them appealing for the realization of a new generation of low-cost solar cells and optical emitters.
