The goods and services provided by marine benthic ecosystems are partly due to invertebrate populations, such as bivalves, which dominate coarse soft bottoms. The renewal of species with a benthic-pelagic life cycle rely on a successful recruitment, a critical step which involve a set of mechanisms that allow the transition from pelagic to benthic life stages and the survival of juveniles on the substrate. The objective of this present thesis is to analyze the determinism of bivalves recruitment by estimating 1) the role of benthic habitats as a nursery area, 2) the impact of human activities, mainly mussel farming and recreational fishing, and 3) the role of qualitative and quantitative changes of trophic resources available for peri-metam...
