Hintergrund Platinverbindungen werden schon seit Jahrzehnten im therapeutischen Setting zur Chemotherapie von Krebs verwendet. Trotz ihrer starken antineoplastischen Aktivität, werden sie in ihrer Anwendung durch intrinsische und erworbene Resistenzen der zu therapierenden Tumore sowie ein ungünstiges Nebenwirkungsprofil limitiert. In der Gruppe der organometallischen Substanzen haben in den letzten Jahren auf Ruthenium aufbauende Medikamente an Bedeutung gewonnen.
