Adjustment of a quantitative method for study of the digestive absorption in the pig : applications to concrete nutritional problems

Une méthode directe d’étude de l’absorption digestive a été mise au point chez le porc, méthode qui permet d’établir la cinétique d’apparition des nutri ments dans la veine porte et leur nature. Cette méthode est basée sur la mesure de la différence porto-artérielle de concentration sanguine des nutriments concer nés, et l’enregistrement simultané du débit de sang dans la veine porte, tout au long de la période post prandiale. Cette méthode a été appliquée à la résolu tion de quelques problèmes nutritionnels. Ces études ont porté sur l’absorption des matières azotées d’origine endogène, les bilans d’absorption comparés d’acides aminés d’origine industrielle ou provenant de protéines alimentaires, sur la part prise par la sécrétion exocrine du pancréas dans la digestion des protéines et des glucides et enfin sur la cinétique de digestion et les formes d'absorption des divers glucides alimentaires.A direct method for studying digestive absorption in the pig was perfected, which allows to describe the kinetics of nutrients occurrence in the portal vein, and to precise their nature. This method is based on the measurement of porto- arterial differences of blood concentration of the nutrient under study, and on the simultaneous registration of the blood flow rate in the portal vein, during the postprandial period ( up to I2h-24h after the meal). This method was used for working out some nutritional problems. These studies concerned the absorption of endogenous nitrogenous matters, the comparative absorption balance of syn thetic aminoacids or of aminoacids as components of dietary proteins, the esti mation of the role of the exocrine pancreas in the digestion processes, and the kinetics of digestion and forms of absorption of some dietary carbohydrates
