Perturbed angular correlation (PAC) has for many years been a productive experimental technique for obtaining information about the static and dynamic behaviour oi local and electronic structures of solids on a microscopic scale, without changing the main properties of the material. This article contains an outline of the basic principles of PAC. A summary of the technique and experimental requirements is given, followed by a brief discussion of the parameters which can be extracted from the PAC measurements.
