In this paper we show, through a case-study, how the adoption of the MPI model for the distributed parallelism and OpenMP parallelizing compiler technology for the inner shared memory parallelism, allows to yield a hierarchically distributed-shared memory implementation of an algorithm presenting multiple levels of parallelism.
