Thema der vorliegenden Dissertation war die Suche nach und die Charakterisierung von neuen Katalysatoren für die Gasphasenoxidation von konzentriertem SO2 zur Schwefelsäureproduktion. Hierbei kamen moderne Hochdurchsatzmethoden zur Synthese und Analyse der Proben, wie etwa die Emissivitätskorrigierte Infrarotthermographie (ecIRT) und robotergestützte Syntheseverfahren, zum Einsatz. Ferner wurde für die Katalysatorvermessung ein Zehnfach-Strömungsrohrreaktor mit UV-VIS-Analytik zur Onlinequantifizierung des SO2-Umsatzes entwickelt und gebaut. Mithilfe dieser experimentellen Aufbauten wurden über Sol-Gel-Routen eine große Anzahl von Mischoxidproben synthetisiert und ihre SO2-Oxidationsaktivität zwischen 330°C und 450°C quantifiziert.
