Konkurrens- och vinstsituationen på den svenska bankmarknaden

The thesis studies the Swedish bank market and how it has developed during the last years, covering the financial crisis 2008 and its effects on the bank market. The purpose is to analyze the competition (and the earnings) on the Swedish bank market. We have done a literature study and collected quantitative data to assess the competition on the market. The market structure is an oligopoly, with a Cournot and Stackelberg behavior. The bank’s earnings stems mainly from the mortgage market. We find the competition on the market weak, and this is mainly due to the barriers of entry that exists on the assured bonds market. The assured bonds market is the market that represents the largest part of financing the Swedish mortgage market.
