A participa??o familiar nos processos educativos: uma an?lise das representa??es de m?es sobre a rela??o fam?lia-escola

The study aims to understand the mothers? social representations on the family-school relationship. This family-school relationship was investigated in terms of learning, children?s behavior and how close the family is to the school environment. This study is based on the social representations theory idealized by Serge Moscovici (1978) that seeks to explain the effect of common-sense knowledge about social objects on people's behavior, attitudes and judgments. The methodology to be adopted has multifaceted characteristics that will seek to explore the mothers? social representations on the family-school relationship. The pluri-methodological approach privileges the qualitative analysis and makes possible the data interpretation. The study was conducted with 105 student?s mothers enrolled in last pre-school year, first and fifth grade of elementary school. Of this total, 62 were mothers of children studying in private schools and 43 in state schools located in a southern country city. First, the mothers completed a questionnaire including open and closed questions about their profile. Then the Free Association technique was applied using the following inductive terms: Family and school performance; Family and children behavior; Family at school. The next step was the application of the projective narrative method - the mothers were asked to complete in their own words an unfinished story. Finally, the image selection method was applied when they were asked to choose from four figures which one best represented the family-school relationship, justifying their choice. The data obtained from the Free Association method was interpreted using the Evoc software (2000). The text segments were analyzed by the Iramuteq software (2009). The content analysis technique was used to review the image selection justification (BARDIN, 1977). The research project was submitted to the Research Ethics Committee and was approved. The results indicate that there was no difference between the two mother groups when the subject was the learning process: both groups realize they have an important role in the process of supporting their child. Regarding the children's behavior, there was a difference between the two mother groups. For the private school mothers their role in the moral, ethical and social formation was firstly through conversations. In the background the rules and limit impositions were mentioned. For the state school mothers, the moral, ethical and social formation appear as a problematic and concerning topic. In the background the limit impositions were mentioned. Regarding the subject of family at school, there were similarities between the two groups. Both emphasized the importance of the family participation at school following the children?s school life. For the private school mothers the family-school relationship should be filled with harmony, understanding, partnership, growth and development. For the state school mothers two kinds of answers about the family-school relationship were obtained. Most of them did not mention anything about it, merely commenting on the benefits of their children going to school. In only a few cases the importance of this relationship was mentioned. Possibly, the representations of the family-school relationship are also anchored in the history of the school in Brazil, which extended access to education to a large number of children and young people, and disseminated the ideals that schools form for work, provide better conditions for life and that the family should offer support to this process.O estudo tem por objetivo compreender as representa??es sociais de m?es sobre a rela??o fam?lia-escola. Essa rela??o fam?lia-escola foi investigada na quest?o da aprendizagem, do comportamento das crian?as e da proximidade da fam?lia no contexto escolar. Este estudo fundamenta-se na teoria das representa??es sociais idealizadas por Serge Moscovici (1978) que procura explicar o efeito dos conhecimentos de senso comum acerca de objetos sociais no comportamento das pessoas, nas suas atitudes e nos seus julgamentos. A metodologia a ser adotada tem um car?ter multifacetado que explorou as representa??es sociais de m?es sobre a rela??o fam?lia-escola. A abordagem plurimetodol?gica privilegia an?lises qualitativas, que possibilitam a interpreta??o dos dados. Ao todo participaram da pesquisa 105 m?es de alunos matriculados na ?ltima turma da pr?-escola, no primeiro e quinto ano do ensino fundamental. Desse total, 62 eram m?es de escola privada e 43 de escola p?blica, ambas localizadas em uma cidade da regi?o sul do pa?s. Um question?rio com perguntas abertas e fechadas sobre o perfil dos participantes foi aplicado ?s m?es. Em seguida, aplicou-se a T?cnica de Associa??o Livre de Palavras a partir dos seguintes termos indutores: Fam?lia e desempenho escolar; Fam?lia e comportamento das crian?as; Fam?lia na escola. Em um segundo momento, aplicou-se o instrumento das narrativas projetivas, quando os sujeitos foram solicitados a completar com suas pr?prias palavras uma hist?ria que estava inacabada. Por fim, no instrumento da sele??o de imagens, os sujeitos foram solicitados a escolher dentre quatro figuras, a que melhor representava a rela??o fam?lia-escola, justificando a sua escolha. Os dados da Associa??o Livre de Palavras foram tratados pelo software Evoc (2000). Os dados do complemento de frases foram analisados pelo software Iramuteq (2009). As justificativas da sele??o de imagens foram tratadas pela an?lise de conte?do (BARDIN, 1977). O projeto de pesquisa passou pelo Comit? de ?tica em Pesquisa e obteve aprova??o. Os resultados indicam que, com rela??o ? quest?o da aprendizagem, n?o houve diferen?a entre os dois grupos de m?es, que percebem o seu papel nesse processo como sendo o de proporcionar suporte e apoio ao seu filho (a). Com rela??o ? quest?o do comportamento das crian?as, houve diferen?a entre os dois grupos de m?es. Para as m?es da escola privada, o seu papel na forma??o moral, ?tica e social das crian?as foi o de proporcionar primeiramente, uma boa educa??o por meio de conversas. Em segundo plano, apareceu a quest?o da imposi??o de limites e regras. Para as m?es da escola p?blica, a forma??o moral, ?tica e social das crian?as revelou-se como um problema e uma preocupa??o. Em segundo plano, apareceu a quest?o da imposi??o de limites. Com rela??o ? quest?o da fam?lia na escola, houve semelhan?as entre os dois grupos de m?es. Ambas salientaram que ? importante a participa??o da fam?lia na escola, acompanhar as crian?as na sua vida escolar. Para as m?es da escola privada, a rela??o fam?lia-escola girou em torno da ideia de uma harmonia, de um entendimento, de parceria e de uma expectativa de crescimento e desenvolvimento. Para as m?es da escola p?blica, obteve-se dois tipos de respostas sobre a rela??o fam?lia-escola. A maior parte delas n?o fez coment?rios espec?ficos sobre essa rela??o, limitando-se a comentar os benef?cios de se frequentar a escola. Possivelmente, as representa??es da rela??o fam?lia-escola ancoram-se tamb?m na hist?ria da escola no Brasil, que ampliou o acesso ao ensino a um grande n?mero de crian?as e jovens, divulgou os ideais de que a escola forma para o trabalho, proporcionando melhores condi??es de vida, e que a fam?lia deve oferecer apoio e suporte a esse processo. O entendimento do papel da escola e das fam?lias no desenvolvimento das crian?as e as expectativas com rela??o ? escola na forma??o podem ser diferentes e influenciados por diferentes fatores como a idade das m?es, a sua profiss?o, a sua forma??o. Os contextos de vida das fam?lias impactariam, a nosso ver, nos tipos de rela??o entre m?es e escola
