Among Seneca\u2019s literary output, besides three Consolationes (Ad Marciam, Ad Polybium, Ad Helviam matrem) belonging to the Dialogues, some shorter consolatory writings can be found into the Letters to Lucilius. This paper aims to examine three of these consolatory letters (Letters 63, 93 and 99) as a whole, in order to highlight their unique role in the thriving genre of Ancient Consolation: this latter, however, is still to be precisely defined in its salient features, despite of all its well known commonplaces
