Employment contract and psychological contract : changing relations at workplaces This study examines permanent (n = 569) and temporary employees (n = 199) in three sectors in Sweden. These include education (n = 292), food industry (n = 259) and retail (n = 217). The main purpose was to study the relationship between employment contract and employees' well-being with a special focus on the role of the so called psychological contract (employees' description of mutual promises and commitments as part of the employment relationship). The study shows that permanents experience higher levels of work-load but also more autonomy, skill utilization and higher levels of volition than temporary employees.
