This collection includes video recordings and transcripts of interviews with Houstonians who have made contributions to the LGBT community.Henry McClurg published Houston area gay newspapers for more than 40 years. The self-proclaimed "mayor of Montrose" McClurg was originally from Mississippi spending time in the military before going to work in radio in Houston. His first publication "Contact" provided news, bar guides, and ads for the Houston LGBTQ community. It began publication in March 1974 and ran for 17 issues, until October 1975, when it was sold to "The Advocate." ...
