This recording and transcript form part of a collection of oral history interviews conducted by Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Rice University. This collection includes video recordings and transcripts of interviews with Houstonians who have made contributions to the LGBT community.Nick Brines moved to Houston in 1988 to study at the University of Houston. Brines has been active with Planned Parenthood, American Heart Association, and Pride Houston. He served as a member of the fundraising committee and president of Houston Pride Committee from 2004-2007. He was 2012 Houston Male Pride Marshal. He opened Azur Salon in 2007
