Relação solo-relevo para compreensão dos processos erosivos da bacia hidrográfica do Rio Doce/RN

Rio Doce’s river basin area is one of the most important basins for supplying a significant portion of the population of the Metropolitan Region of Natal. In recent years, the Rio Doce river basin has been suffering from the interference of the urbanization process, through strong real estate growth in the Northern Zone of Natal and mainly in the municipal area of Extremoz and São Gonçalo do Amarante. The expansion of the Extremoz industrial district leads to inadequate land use, which further contributes to the development of erosion processes in certain areas inside the basin. On the other hand, in the rural areas of the basin the significant presence of small and medium-sized farming properties leaves the terrain exposed to the conditions of rainfall erosivity. These interventions contribute to the acceleration of the erosive processes that end up influencing the pedological system that, consequently, will also affect the water conditions of the Rio Doce basin. This research has the purpose of characterizing the three - dimensional organization of the pedological cover present in the river basin of the Rio Doce, as well as its relation with the erosive processes of the area. As a main factor for the analysis of erosive processes, this study approaches the relation between the relief and the soil, starting from the idea that the relief influences in the development of the soil and the soil in the evolution of the relief. In order to make this research, we used the theoretical-methodological assumptions of Ab'Sáber (1969) and Ross (1990) for the compartmentalization of the basin in natural units and Ruellan & Queiroz Neto (1985) and Boulet (1993) for Structural Analysis of Pedological Coverage. Three natural units were mapped, in which toposequences were done to identify the main soil characteristics of each unit. It was verified that the soils in the three units present great susceptibility to erosion, especially in the slopes near the Mudo, Guajiru and Doce river beds.A bacia hidrográfica do Rio Doce é uma das mais importantes bacias por abastecer uma parcela significativa da população da Região Metropolitana de Natal. Nos últimos anos, a bacia hidrográfica do Rio Doce vem sofrendo com a interferência do processo de urbanização, através do forte crescimento imobiliário na Zona Norte de Natal e, principalmente, no município de Extremoz e de São Gonçalo do Amarante. A expansão do distrito industrial de Extremoz acarreta usos inadequados do solo, o que contribui ainda mais para o desenvolvimento de processos de erosão em determinadas áreas dentro da bacia. Já nas áreas rurais da bacia a presença significativa de propriedades agropecuárias de pequeno a médio porte deixa o terreno exposto às condições de erosividade das chuvas. Essas intervenções contribuem para a aceleração dos processos erosivos que acabam influenciando o sistema pedológico que, consequentemente, também afetará as condições hídricas da bacia do Rio Doce. Essa pesquisa tem a finalidade de caracterizar a organização tridimensional da cobertura pedológica presente na bacia hidrográfica do Rio Doce, bem como sua relação com os processos erosivos da área. Como principal fator para análise dos processos erosivos, esse estudo aborda a relação entre o relevo e o solo, partindo da ideia de que o relevo influencia no desenvolvimento do solo e este na evolução do relevo. Para realização dessa pesquisa, utilizamos os pressupostos teóricos-metodológicos de Ab'Sáber (1969) e Ross (1990) para a compartimentação da bacia em unidades naturais e Ruellan & Queiroz Neto (1985) e Boulet (1993) para a Análise Estrutural da Cobertura Pedológica. Foram mapeadas três unidades naturais, nas quais foram realizadas as topossequências para a identificação das principais características dos solos de cada unidade. Foi verificado que os solos nas três unidades apresentam grande suscetibilidade à erosão, principalmente nas vertentes próximas aos leitos dos rios Mudo, Guajiru e Doce. As análises das amostras de solo identificaram solos muito semelhantes, em relação à composição granulométrica, nas três unidades naturais, mostrando que o que diferenciam o potencial de erodibilidade dos solos são as formas de uso e ocupação
