International audienceThis article presents a comparative study between a corpus of crime fiction novels written in French, and a corpus of novels belonging to the same sub-genre, but translated from English. We formulate the hypothesis that the translation corpus can be exploited just like the original texts in order to study a given literary sub-genre - contrary to the habits in corpus linguistics, who prefers to use comparable corpora rather than translated corpora, considered as unreliable. We believe that a lot of features of the literary sub-genres are inter-cultural, and come from both translated literature and literature in the original language.
