ANALISIS NILAI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER TOKOH UTAMA DALAM NOVEL AMELIA KARYA TERE LIYE

haracter building is very important in education in Indonesia nowadays. Moral decadence that occurs in the education field triggers the application of the value of character building in various sources. Literary works is one of the media to see the dynamics of life including the values of character building on the characters. As one type of literary work, novel is one of the highly effective media in applying the value of character building including Amelia novel by Tere Liye. Based on this matter which become problems in this research are (1) how is the value of character building of main character in relation between human with her/himself, (2) how is the value of character building of main character in relation between human with others. The method used in this research is descriptive method of analysis with the approach of sociology literary. The source of data used in this study is Tere Liye's novel of Amelia by looking at the data, sentence, and story entries in the novel. The data found is processed through several steps, namely (1) data collection, (2) classify the data found, (3) describe the data, (4) infer the data. This research is done through the stages of research that is the preparation stage, the stage of implementation and completion stage. From the results of the analysis and discussion, it is concluded that in the Amelia novel Tere Liye's work found the values of character building needed in education in Indonesia. The value of character building found is the value of character building in human relationships with self and the value of character building in human relationships with others. The values contained in the value of character education in human relationships with oneself found in the novel are honest, responsible, hard work, independent, love science, logical thinking, creative and innovative, curiosity and confidence. While the values contained in the value of character building in human relationships with others include the value aware of the rights and obligations of self and others, polite, and social and environmental care
