En esta investigación se elaboraron películas de ilmenita soportada en poliestireno de alto impacto por el método de adhesión, la cual fue sometida a modificación con H2SO4 y a diferentes temperaturas de calcinación. Se evaluaron que las películas fueran efectivas en la remoción de azul de metileno para posteriormente usarlas en la degradación microbiológica, después de establecer condiciones presentes en los fundamentos teóricos, se logró una remoción del 73,3% de azul de metileno en 215 minutos a partir de ilmenita modificada térmicamente a 650°C. Posteriormente se empleó el estándar de McFarland, en donde se estimó una concentración inicial de 10 8 ,la cual fue expuesta en un Fotoreactor a luz visible junto con una película de Ilmenita soportada en poliestireno durante 9 horas en donde se observó mediante un recuento en placa que la ilmenita soportada en poliestireno no es eficaz en la degradación microbiológica a través del tiempo
