The aim of this thesis is to identify the main factors affecting the accuracy and performance of a pulse oximeter in ambulatory and wireless environment. The analysis was done for four different types of sensor designs which were developed by research and development department of General Electric Healthcare. The study compares the performance and accuracy of the earlier, mains current connected SpO2 sensors and the prototypes of the wireless and ambulatory SpO2 sensors. In addition to existing data measured with legacy sensors, new clinical data was collected from 15 subjects at Clinimark clinical research center in Colorado, USA.
