Se estudió la tolerancia y eficiencia de Typha domingensis en la retención de metales y nutrientes de efluentes industriales. Se monitoreó un humedal construido, determinando metales y nutrientes en diferentes órganos vegetales, en los efluentes y en el sedimento de la zona de entrada y de salida, así como también la tolerancia de las plantas a las condiciones del sistema. En experiencias de invernadero, se evalúo la respuesta de T. domingensis al ser expuesta a condiciones extremas de pH y salinidad y a diferentes concentraciones de metales y la capacidad de biosorber metales en sus hojas secas.
