Identification of the bearer: Leonardo Loredano, Venetian rettore of Chania (1551-1554)Historical Notice: Venetian patrician house, including three doges of Venice (16th and 18th c.) and four dukes of Crete (15th and 16th c.), while a branch of the same family was established in the Archipelago in the 15th century, and later ruled for a while the island of Antiparos.This particular coat-of-arms, is to be found on a fountain that used to be at Santrivani, and now stands in the yard of the old Catholic Monastery of Agios Frangiskos (actually housing the Archeological Museum).
