Des voies de la migration. Italiens et Algériens dans l'espace lyonnais

Migration channels. Italians and Algerians in the Lyon area. In the Rhône department, the rate of foreigners in the 30s (7 per cent) was close to the national average. If Italians were numerically the first nationality before the Second World War, Algerians already made up the third extensive group. Beyond considérations about the man-ners and beliefs of those ones, which are qui te often a reflection of prejudices, it is better, in order to throw a light on the present immigration by studying its past, to take an interest in what transcends the distribution into national groups and seems to recur in the very migration : the weights of the village and of the town district undermine the peculiarities which, in short, endow migration with a universal character. Some Italians from the province of Frosinone, some Ciociari, some Kabyle Algerians from the district of Drâ-el-Mizan live in the suburbs of Lyon. Estranged by their own origins, these immigrants, however, have something in common : they have achieved a migratory tradition following well-defined patterns, which can be reproduced from a génération to the next one and which finally provides a background for their intégration.Dans le département du Rhône, la proportion des étrangers dans les années trente (7 %) était proche de la moyenne nationale. Si les Italiens étaient, par le nombre, la première des nationalités avant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, les Algériens constituaient déjà le troisième groupe en importance. Au-delà des considérations sur les moeurs et les croyances des uns et des autres, qui reflètent bien souvent des préjugés, il est préférable, pour éclairer le présent de l'immigration par son passé, de s'intéresser à ce qui transcende le partage en groupes nationaux et semble être récurrent dans la migration elle-même : le poids du village, du quartier, soient les particularismes par lesquels, en somme, la migration atteint son universalité. Dans la banlieue lyonnaise vivent des Italiens originaires de la province de Frosinone, des Ciociari, et des Algériens Kabyles de l'arrondissement de Drâ-el-Mizan. Éloignés par l'origine, ces immigrés ont pourtant en commun d'avoir construit une tradition migratoire inscrite dans des parcours bien délimités, reproductibles d'une génération à l'autre, et qui finalement offrent un cadre d'intégration.Videlier Philippe.
