Bestseller lists and int4erviews with readers offer a means to study the bestseller phoenomenon. A statistical analysis of Quebec bestseller lists from 1970 to 1987, in spite of limited data, reveals a decline in the share of the market belonging to Quebec books. Reader interviews reveal that reading behaviour varies by sex and by certain variables of reading pleasure.Les listes de bestsellers et les entrevues avec des lecteurs permettent d'analyser certaines facettes du phénomène du bestseller.
