The study of Hyllarima's fortifications shows a gate flanked by two towers, one of them pentagonal, the other hexagonal. Although they were stated by Philon of Byzance to be the best adapted to guard a gate, polygonal towers, asymetrically associated, had been unknown up to then. Such construction is similar to some examples which are to be found in the area (Samos, Heraclea on Latmos) and allows us to date this fortified whole back to the high Hellenistic Era, when Pleistarchos, Cassandros' brother, was almighty in Caria.L'étude des fortifications d'Hyllarima fait connaître une porte flanquée de deux tours, l'une pentagonale, l'autre hexagonale.
