Codicological Reconstruction of a Chrysostom Manuscript from the 10th Century : Cod. Vind. theol. gr. 13. The Cod. Vind. theol. gr. 13, a parchment manuscript from the first half of the 10th century containing homilies of John Chrysostom on the Gospel of Matthew, consists of 68 folios which do not preserve their original order. The reconstruction of the initial form of the codex is based upon a calculation of the extent of the lost portions of the text and upon the quaternions still discernable. The Vienna manuscript apparently was a copy of a first volume of the Chrysostom homilies on Matthew and probably consisted of 44 quaternions (ca. 350 folios). Seven of the quaternions have remained complete, five are incomplete (consisting 20 % of the original volume). That two scribes have shared the work of copying is distinguishable by palaeographic and codicological criteria. — The senseless confusion of the folios can be shown to be the fraudulent manipulation of the Greek copyist and manuscript dealer Andreas Darmarios. He restored the Vind. theol. gr. 13 ca. 1562-1566 and embellished it for sale (perhaps to Johannes Sambucus), wherein he tried to give to the fragments he had available the appearance of a codex relatively intact.Reconstitution codicologique d'un manuscrit de Chrysostome du Xe siècle : le Cod. Vind. theol. gr. 13, un manuscrit en parchemin de la première moitié du xe siècle, avec des homélies de Jean Chrysostome sur l'évangile de Matthieu, se compose de soixante-huit feuillets qui toutefois n'ont pas conservé leur ordre primitif. La reconstitution de l'aspect original du codex se fonde sur un calcul de l'étendue des parties de texte perdues, et sur l'état des cahiers qui sont encore reconnaissables : le manuscrit de Vienne était apparemment un exemplaire d'un premier volume des homélies de Chrysostome sur Matthieu, qui se composait de quarante- quatre cahiers (environ 350 feuillets) ; sept en sont conservés intégralement aujourd'hui et cinq partiellement, c'est-à-dire environ 20 % du volume primitif. Deux copistes, que l'on peut distinguer sur des critères paléographiques et codicologiques, se sont partagé le travail. — Les absurdes interversions de feuillets peuvent être considérées comme une manipulation fallacieuse d'Andréas Darmarios, copiste et marchand de manuscrits grecs. Il restaura le Vind. theol. gr. 13 dans les années 1562 à 1566 et l'apprêta pour la vente (peut- être à Johannes Sambucus), en s'efforçant de donner aux fragments dont il disposait l'apparence d'un codex relativement intact.Kresten Otto.
