In the Northeast part of the Gard department, in the heart of a calcareous massif, the bushes were recently cleared away from the castle of Gicon. Built on a very steep horst, the first buildings are inserted in the cliff whereas the most recent ones are built on an outfitted platform. The vestiges, for the most part, are grouped together in sectors: in the Eastern side, three rows of communicating rooms one of which is set up for the defence of an entrance; on the Western side, a wall with putlog-holes, crowned by the foot of a vault, the remains of a vertically split bell tower; in the Northern part, a «maison forte» built on the right of the breast walls of the platform.
