This article treats the question of whether the Baima language is an independent language belonging to the Sino-Tibetan family. For this purpose, new evidence is proposed to establish genetic affiliation. Many features of Baima including phonological, grammatical and lexical ones are different to those of Tibetan and its main dialects. While certain features of Baima can be traced back to proto-Tibetan, others are specific to Baima, arising either before or after the dialectal diversification of proto-Tibetan.Cet article pose la question de l'indépendance du baima au sein de la famille des langues sino-tibétaines.
