Holidays are developing more slowly than was expected by Pierre LE ROUX In 1964, 43.6 % of the total population went away on holiday. This proportion went up to 45 % in 1969. It has progressed more slowly than was expected; the rising standard of living, the trend towards urban concentration and changes in the social status pattern should have led to a higher growth rate in the proportion of holiday-makers.
